DANIELLA MORRONE

Daniella recent graduated from an Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto, specializing in Astronomy & Physics, minoring in Mathematics and French Language.

Having participated in several research programs and completed two undergraduate theses, Daniella has significant experience in the  Python coding language  and has research experience in a diverse range of fields both within and outside Astronomy. Further, Daniella has strong presentation skills and science communication, having presented research talks and posters at several research conferences.

While a student at the University of Toronto, Daniella held five Teaching Assistantship contracts; the courses Daniella was a Teaching Assistant for are AST101H1: The Sun and Its Neighbours and AST201H1: Stars and Galaxies, two large-enrolment Astronomy courses for non-program students at the University of Toronto, and the first-year seminar course AST199H1: Astronomy at the Frontier.

Having volunteered in numerous outreach initiatives as a student in the Department for Astronomy and Astrophysics and the Dunlap Institute at the University of Toronto, and continuing to do so post-graduation, Daniella developed a passion for outreach and science communication, specifically in how the two can be used to educate the younger generations, and inspire and encourage them to pursue a future in science and astronomy. A personal and professional goal Daniella is aiming for is to make astronomy a field that is accessible to everyone and in which all feel welcomed.

Now working at Discover the Universe as an Educational Content Creator, making astronomy based activities, workshops, and training for educators, and at the Canadian Astronomical Society (CASCA) as the coordinator of the Westar Program, Daniella continues to gain extensive experience in stronomy outreach, specifically in verbal and written science communication, event planning and organization, social media and website management, as well as collaborating and establishing professional relationships with other outreach organizations.

Professional Interests: Astronomy outreach, Science communication.
Research Interests: Exoplanets, Astrobiology.
Personal Interests: Reading, Stargazing, Graphic design.
